Sherb Cake, AKA Sherbet Cake, is often recommended as the best strain for relaxing.

Is Sherb Cake Indica or Sativa?

Sherb Cake, also known as ‘Sherbet Cake’ or ‘Sherbert Cake,’ is considered an indica-dominant hybrid strain. Its lineage stems from cannabis cultivars Girl Scout Cookies and Pink Panties.

Girl Scout Cookies is bred from legendary strains OG Kush and Durban Poison, while Pink Panties’ lineage consists of Burmese Kush and another Kush back-cross from Florida. With the exception of Durban Poison, all of these ancestor strains are indica or indica-dominant hybrids, which gives the Sherb Cake strain its indica tendencies.

As you can see, Sherb Cake has strong Kush genetics. Kush strains are known for their deeply relaxing, sedative effects. Sherb Cake’s genetics are heavily influenced by these indica roots, but grandparent plant Durban Poison is a sativa strain with uplifting, energizing effects.

So while Sherb Cake is indica-dominant, it does have a sativa strain in its lineage which makes it a balanced, hybrid strain.

How Does the Sherb Cake Strain Look and Taste?

Sherb Cake’s green buds have a purplish tinge, with a thick coating of trichome frosting. If you like the flavor of berries & cream, you’ll love Sherb Cake! People who have tasted Sherb Cake say it contains notes of vanilla and berries, particularly blueberries. Hints of tropical sweetness shine through as well.

How Does Sherb Cake Make You Feel?

The Sherb Cake strain’s indica Kush cultivars and sativa Durban Poison lineage give it nice, balanced effects. According to Leafly, people who have tried Sherb Cake say that it makes them feel:

  • Euphoric

  • Relaxed

  • Happy

Because of these uplifting and soothing effects, lots of folks turn to Sherb Cake for potential relief from depression, anxiety, and/or pain.

Sherb Cake’s Cannabinoid and Terpene Profile

Like any strain, Sherb Cake’s unique bouquet & effects are due to its one-of-a-kind cannabinoid and terpene makeup. Sherb Cake’s THC content is nearly 30% but it also contains a variety of other cannabinoids, including approximately 1% CBG. Minor cannabinoid CBG is known for its anti-anxiety, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective effects.

Sherb Cake also has a diverse terpene profile. The terpenes β-caryophyllene, limonene, and linalool feature most prominently.

Caryophyllene, also known as beta-caryophyllene or BCP, is the only terpene that is also a cannabinoid! This means that it can interact directly with the CB2 receptors in our endocannabinoid system, providing potential anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, and pain relieving effects . Caryophyllene is also found in peppercorns, hops, and cloves and has a distinct peppery aroma.

Limonene has a fresh, lemony smell and is also found in citrus fruits and juniper. Limonene is known for its invigorating, stress-relieving properties. It is also antifungal and antibacterial, making it a key ingredient in many cleaning products. While more research is needed, limonene has also shown promise as an anti-tumor agent.

Linalool has a unique floral aroma– it is what gives lavender its soothing, relaxing scent. Linalool has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects and studies have also shown that it has antidepressant properties.

Along with these three most dominant terpenes, Sherb Cake also contains substantial amounts of myrcene, humulene, and nerolidol, as well as trace amounts of dozens of other terpenes.

Sherb Cake’s rich, full spectrum of cannabinoids and terpenes provides the benefits of the entourage effect. This is the concept that whole cannabis is most effective when all of its components are consumed together, as you do when you smoke your favorite strain.
